The Brooks Crossing Opportunity Center is a centralized hub for customized, flexible, comprehensive, and innovative approaches to career awareness, skills development, wealth building, support services, and case management.
The STEAM Digital Innovation & Fabrication Lab is an instructional hub for STEAM learning (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) driven by team building, allowing opportunities for students and people of all ages to learn by designing creative solutions to real-world problems. It is the first and only lab of its kind in Virginia.
Opportunity Center
At the Brooks Crossing Opportunity Center in Suite 102, we engage adults in custom-focused career and financial coaching, skills development and wealth building, and supportive services to meet participants’ training and job seeking goals.
Innovation Lab
At the Brooks Crossing Innovation Lab in Suite 101 you’ll find an inventive fabrication and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) workshop full of hands-on equipment like 3D printers, laser cutters, a recording studio and a mixed reality room to name just a few!
This innovative facility is the result of collaboration between the City of Newport News, the Newport News Economic Development Authority, Old Dominion University, and Newport News Shipbuilding working together to assist individuals and families in the area to achieve financial stability and sustainable wealth.
